The new body kit features a deeper front bumper with a carbon fiber splitter, larger air ducts and a carbon fibre splitter. It makes the car look much more aggressive than the standard model. Additional changes include xenon/LED headlamps and 20-inch alloy wheels. There are also several blackened chrome trims for window surrounds, tailpipes and grille.
The side sills are larger and the carbon fiber exterior mirror housings are more robust. We also see a boot deck spoiler, made of the same lightweight material. New decals are used on the sides and rear bumpers. Interior cabin features a new three-spoke steering mechanism and sport seats. There are also M Performance floor mats, carbon fiber trim and hand brake and gearshift levers, as well as stainless steel pedals, footrests, and stainless steel pedals.
BMW claims that the 4-Series Coupe equipped with the M Performance package adds 16 bhp (12kW) and 29lb-ft (39Nm) to the 420d model, which is powered by a turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine. The total output is increased to 195 BHP (145 kW) or 309 Lb-ft (418Nm) by the addition of this oomph. The turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine of the 428i has been upgraded to 269 BHP (200 kW) as well as 287 Lb-ft (389Nm). This represents an increase in 27 bhp (20kW) or 29 lb/ft (39 Nm). The turbocharged 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter gasoline engine in the 435i gains 34 bhp (25.5 kW) as well as 37 lb/ft (50 Nm), for a total 336 bhp (332 kW) & 332 lb/ft (356 Nm) respectively. These power upgrades can be achieved via software tweaks and new exhaust systems.
Customers will have the option to select a limited slip differential from the M Performance Parts catalogue. This will be a clutch-type unit with a 30% lock-up.
The BMW M4 Coupe is expected to be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2014.
