Rumours circulated about the Ka’s death, but we saw spy photos of a small Ford prototype last month and assumed it was the Ka. We were correct as the Blue Oval company will not kill the Ka. They just revealed a prototype in Brazil that is close to production. This previews the next generation.
The car looks just like you’d expect. It has the familiar Ford front grille, and other Ford cues. Except for the headlights, which look similar to the Escort Concept, the car seems production-ready.
Although the full specifications of the car were not revealed, Brazilian media reports that it will be powered by a 1.0-liter three cylinder with 80 HP (59kW) and a 1.5-liter with 111 HP (82.2 kW) when run on ethanol. It will also have a 1.5-liter with 107 HP (79kW) when driven on gasoline.
It will be available for sale in Brazil first, then in other emerging markets. Ford may also decide to make it available in Europe.
