A recent report claims that the Opel / Vauxhall Corsa’s next generation will be released in 2014.
Auto Motor und Sport claims the model will be based on the Gamma II platform, which also supports the Chevrolet Aveo / Sonic and Buick Encore. The next-generation Corsa could weigh 50 kg (110 pounds) less than its predecessor. The car will likely keep its torsion beam rear suspension, rather than a more expensive mutli link setup.
According to the magazine, the vehicle will be roughly the same size as today’s model but will have dramatic styling with a bold front fascia and coupe-like roofline.
We can expect a turbocharged, 1.0-liter three cylinder engine as well as a range of four-cylinder units. These mills will be equipped with direct injection, forced induction and a stop/start system.
