The Volkswagen Touran minivan is one of Europe’s most popular. New details are beginning to surface about the redesigned model.
Auto Motor und Sport reports that the next-generation Touran will be available in late 2014. It will ride on the QB platform which could allow it to weigh less than 100 kg (220 lbs). The next-generation Touran will be approximately the same size as today’s model but with sportier styling and a longer wheelbase.
Inside, expect additional standard equipment as well as the EasyFold seat system of the Sharan.
There should be several fuel-efficient engines under the hood. The magazine says that the 1.4 TSI will come in a 140 PS (103 kW / 138 hp version) with cylinder activation technology. This should lower its fuel consumption by approximately 0.4 L/100 km.
