Our spy photographers captured several prototypes of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hellcat being driven by members from the SRT development group.
These prototypes confirm rumors of a supercharged HEMI-V8 6.2-liter engine codenamed Hellcat. According to the report, the powerful engine will debut on the next-gen Challenger. Production should begin in mid-2014 so it should be available for the 2015 model year.
These prototypes, which were likely test mules for the next-gen model, conceal what appears to be a lower intake and larger one. This indicates that more air will be passing through the front fascia. At the back we see a different exhaust system. These changes will allow the HEMI-V8 to produce as much as 640 horsepower (477 kW) making the Challenger Hellcat an interesting rival for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 or SRT Viper.
