Both are OPC Line trims and they are stunning.
Although concepts are often a sign of what’s to come, many production cars don’t look as exciting as the ones that were created. The all-new Opel Insignia Grand Sport sedan is not like that. It has kept very close to the 2013 Monza design. This is the OPC Line trim, which has a much more sleek design than the older Insignia.
This is actually the OPC Line version, which has a sportier exterior and lower suspension. Brembo brakes are also hidden behind 20-inch alloy wheels. The trunk has dual exhaust tips and a spoiler lip. Opel decided to go against the grain and install the turn signals on the front fenders, rather than in the side mirror caps.
We also have spy photos of the Insignia Sports Tourer. It looks enormous and has a large trunk. The OPC Line version of this car had a wider and more angular finisher than the sedan. It was also equipped with round-circular tips. We can see the sporty body kit, including the front and rear spoiler lips as well as the side skirt add-ons. The wagon’s light shade makes it easier to see.
Both cars were Opel’s top-spec OPC Line. They had Opel’s new matrix LED headlights. Each cluster has 16 light-emitting Diodes, twice the amount of what the Astra has.
The new Insignia is 2.1 inches longer (55 millimeters), but it will still lose 385 pounds (175 kg) on certain versions. The longer wheelbase will make it more comfortable for the rear passengers. It is 3.6 inches (92mm) wider than its predecessor. It will be 1.1 inches (29mm) lower than its predecessor, giving it a sportier look.
According to information gathered at the Buick-GMC annual dealers meeting earlier this year, there’s a reason both cars were spotted in the United States. The Opel and Vauxhall Insignias will be heading stateside with their Buick badges as the Regal for 2018. A trademark filing from last year suggests that the wagon could be given the “Regal Tourx” moniker. The new Insignia will be traveling to Australia as the 2018 Holden Commodore.
Rumours suggest that the Insignia Grand Sport regular will be revealed online in the latter part of the month. This will precede a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The Sports Tourer will likely make its debut several months later.
