The Old vs. the New. Which do you prefer?
The Bentley Continental GT is a luxury coupe that offers exceptional performance and luxurious design in a vast market. The third generation keeps the model’s elegant legacy alive with luxurious details such as an infotainment system hidden behind the wood veneer dashboard and the option of 15 colors for the leather upholstery. Let’s see how the new GT changes from the previous one.
The design of the new Continental GT is the same as before, with a wide mesh grille and a pair on each side. The 2018 model has sculpting around lamps to better integrate them into the front. This retro-inspired detail makes the nose appear more aerodynamic.
The new creases at the headlights are highlighted in the 2018 Continental GT’s front three quarters view. The coupe also has redesigned mirrors, which taper to a point and magnify its aerodynamic appearance.
The chrome strip that runs along the sides sills has become thicker and extends to the front fenders. This change makes the piece a prominent part of the profile styling.
The changes to the new Continental GT are most obvious on the side. Although the nose is slightly rounder, the most significant changes are made to the rear of its roofline. Instead of bending as it reaches its tail, the top now flows in an arc backwards. This small adjustment makes the large coupe look more slippery.
Bentley changes the design of the Continental GT’s tail. The tailpipes are the same design as the oval-shaped rearlights. The trunk lid’s top is also moved lower to the rear by the new roofline. The chrome strip that runs along the side wraps around the rear, rather than ending at the fenders.
These changes, along with the rest of the new design create a coupe that is more aerodynamic than its predecessor, the Continental GT.
The 2018 Continental GT’s cabin has revolutionary improvements over the previous model. A digital instrument panel can now display navigation data right in front of the driver. The coolest feature is located on the middle stack, where the 12.3-inch infotainment screen rotates into the dashboard when it’s not being used ( to see it in action,). Although it may not be very practical, this trick is impressive to see in action.
