New platform, new design and interior, all new.
The revamped Citroen Berlingo, which was developed simultaneously with the Opel/Vauxhall Combo and the new Peugeot Partner, brings the love/hate Cactus styling into the van segment. The third generation of the double-chevron’s LCV was essentially built from scratch. It is quite a departure from the previous model in terms of styling but also the underpinnings. The 2018 Berlingo is made to the PSA Group EMP2 platform. This means that the front overhang of the Berlingo has been reduced and raised, and the windscreen has been set forward. It also offers improved maneuverability and better electric power steering. The new Berlingo, like other Citroen models has air bumps at its bottom to give it a rugged appearance and extra protection.
There are many options for you to choose from, as you’d expect from a vehicle of this size. The Berlingo is available in two sizes. It can be ordered in the M flavor, which measures 4.4 meters long, and the larger Berlingo XL, which spans at 4.75 metres. There are both five- and seven-seat options. The new van is able to load a variety of items regardless of its size. Citroen promises the best cargo capacity in class. With its 2.7-meter load length, the M version can hold up to 775 Liters. This is 100 Liters more than its predecessor. There are 28 additional storage spaces in the cabin that can hold an additional 186 liters. Modutop is a clever storage space in the ceiling that can be accessed from either the trunk or the second row of individual seats. You can carry more with the larger XL model. It has a load volume capacity of 1,050 liters and a length of 3.05 metres. The new Berlingo comes with two removable seats, which can be moved through 130 millimeters on a rail. This feature is not available on the M model.
Buyers have the option of a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 110 horsepower or 130 horsepower, or a 1.5-liter diesel with 75, 100, or 130 horsepower. These engines can be connected to either an eight-speed or six-speed manual gearbox, depending on the engine. It has active safety brake, post collision safety brake, driver attention alert, and even a coffer-break alert. If you choose the automatic transmission, the 2018 Berlingo comes with an extended traffic sign recognition system as well as adaptive cruise control with a stop function. Blind spot monitoring, trailer stability control and hill start assist are all available on the 2018 Berlingo. Smart headlights can also be added that adjust the intensity of the high and low beams according to traffic conditions.
The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports MirrorLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, as well as MirrorLink, and allows for connectivity to a variety of devices. The new Berlingo is wireless charging capable, so you can charge your phone with it. It also includes other gadgets like a panoramic camera, grip control (with hill assist descent), and a five-mode driving experience: snow, mud and sand. The 2018 Citroen Berlingo will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show next month, in advance of a market launch for the second half.
