Fiat 500 goes all turbo for 2018
It also gets some new colors.
The 500X has been given a minor overhaul for 2018, and the 500L City Cross edition is being updated. However, Fiat has been quiet lately. The 500 is being updated by the Italian automaker. The 2018 fiat 500 will now have a standard turbocharged 1.4-liter engine. It can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or optional six-speed auto.
The 2018 Fiat 500 boasts a massive 135 horsepower (100 Kilowatts) as well as 150 pound-feet (2203 Newton-meters), of torque. This model is up 34 horsepower (25 Kilowatts). The outgoing 1.4-liter naturally-aspirated engine produced only 101 horsepower (75 kW), and 97 lbft (131 Nm), of torque.
The 500’s new version is available in three models: the Lounge, Pop and Abarth. Fiat also added some new features to its lower-trim Lounge and Pop models, along with a turbocharged engine. A new performance braking system, sport suspension, and a ParkView rear back camera are all standard features on the 16-inch aluminum wheels.
Three new colors are now available – Brillante red, Mezzanotte blue pearl, and Vesuvio Black pearl – giving users more options to personalize their small rides. There are now 11 exterior color options. You can also update the front and rear fascias with body color, and even have a Turbo badge on your liftgate.
The 500 Abarth remains largely unchanged in the 2018 model-year update. The same turbocharged 1.4-liter engine produces 160 horsepower (119 kW) as well as 183 lbft (284 Nm). You can get a performance suspension with three modes electronic stability control, 16-inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels and Pirelli tires with red brakes. Also, you will receive a day of free driving lessons at the Bob Bondurant school of high-performance driving.
