The model will be manufactured in Argentina and launched in Brazil during the first quarter 2018.
Small cars are the most competitive segment on South American markets. Compact hatchbacks and sedans are among the most sought-after vehicles. The Volkswagen launched the new Virtus sedan. It is almost a Polo-based sedan. Fiat has unveiled the Cronos, a new small sedan. It is a sedan version the Argo and will be manufactured in Cordoba, Argentina. It will be available in Brazil’s first quarter 2018.
The new Cronos sedan is based on the same hatchback, but the front grille of the Cronos has been updated with chrome inserts as well as an additional chrome accent at the lower end. To accommodate stylish fog lamps, the bumper has been redesigned.
The trunk’s length has been increased to accommodate a spoiler. Meanwhile, the rear taillights are more sleek than those on the Argo. It is not clear how many liters the vehicle’s boot can hold, but the Italian manufacturer claims it exceeds the Volkswagen Virtus 521 liters.
The interior of the Cronos is very similar to that of the Argo in both design and materials. As a standard feature, the multimedia center comes with a 7-inch floating screen and the LCD screen for on-board computers. However, it is possible to replace the TFT screen at an additional cost. The interior space will look identical to the Argo hatch or the VW Virtus, according to the official photos.
The new sedan is slightly heavier than the five door hatchback and won’t come with the 1.0-liter Firefly base engine. Instead, it will be available with the larger 1.3-liter Firefly entry-level engine. You can choose between a manual or five-speed automatic transmission with this unit. The 139-horsepower (103 kilowatts) E.torQ1.8-liter motor will be used in the more expensive models. It uses a six-speed manual gearbox.
