2018 Ford Mustang Gets a Black Accent Package

2018 Ford Mustang Gets a Black Accent Package

A little bit of black trim can go a long ways.

Ford is a huge fan of building Mustangs loaded with all sorts of add-ons. Mustang enthusiasts love them. New packages will be available this fall with a new pony car. The Pony package adds, among others, a chrome corral to the pony emblem in your grille. We have discovered a package that is likely to be called the Black Accent Package.

Ford has yet to reveal the exact contents of this package. The yellow test car has a pair of 5.0 fender badges in black with a blacked out pony in its grille and a thin black spoiler. Although the wheels are clearly black, the GT badge between the taillights is blacked-out. Also, this Mustang has a black roof if you look closely.

This is in line with the leaked 2018 Mustang order guides we saw a few hours ago. The Black Accent Package will be offered for both EcoBoost and GT models. The EcoBoost model will get a pony-like blacked out pony at the rear, where the GT badge would normally go.

It is not clear if this package can be combined or not with other appearance packages. The EcoBoost Wheel and Stripe Package and Carbon Sport Interior Package are popular combinations, as well as pairing them with the performance packages for both models.

Ford wants to make the Mustang’s official debut in the fall, after being beaten in sales by the aging Dodge Challenger. Ford seems to be betting on black to make it happen.
