The automatic nine-speed transmission is smoother and the stop-start system makes it more efficient.

The 2019 AcuraMDX has received a refresh in 2017’s model year. It features significant interior improvements and many new options to enhance the SUV’s performance, such as an A-Spec package. The exterior is now available in Gunmetal Metallic and Majestic Black Pearl as well as Performance Red Pearl and Canyon Bronze Metallic.

The MDX’s cabin is made from better materials. The dashboard is decorated with Desert Olive Ash wood trim, while the doors and seats are covered in contrasting stitching. Standard chairs are also available for the driver and passenger with four-way power lumbar adjustments. The Technology and Entertainment package includes a revised second row seat that makes it easier to access the third row. There’s also wood trim at the center console.

Acura offers two engine options: a naturally aspirated V6 (3.5-liter) or a hybrid V6 (3.5-liter). However, the company has updated the nine-speed automatic for the 2019 model. According to Acura, the transmission starts from second gear and provides “a smoother and more fluid acceleration experience in normal driving.” The engine starts up more quickly thanks to an improved stop-start system. Acura’s Active Damper System is now available to the non-hybrid MDX – previously it was only for the electrified model.
