Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain Mercedes needs to be on its guard.
Although the paint is still wet on the new Audi A6 model, artists are already hard at work creating new versions. We’ve seen the sports saloon with a hot RS6 makeover. But now Tobias Buttner has chosen to give the German luxury saloon an even more rugged theme. This is the A6 Allroad, or at least a rendering thereof. It adopts a new body cladding, and a higher ride height to improve off-road useability, just like other Allroad models.
Although most of the styling cues of the A6 are the same, there are some unique variations. For example, the grille now has vertical chrome inserts instead of the horizontal design on the standard model. A silver running board is located underneath the grille.
The ride height is slightly higher and the plastic body cladding around its wheels ensures that it can handle rougher roads without causing damage to the fenders. The height of the previous model was just 3.5 cm (35 millimeters higher) than that of the standard sedan. Low speeds have an additional centimeter (10 millimeters). If Audi decides to make it, expect similar numbers for the new model.
Although the artist does not specify the powertrain under the A6, don’t expect much change from the standard sedan. The 3.0-liter TFSI turbocharged V6 makes 340 horsepower (250 kW) and the 3.0-liter TDI diesel with 286 hp (220 kW) is an option. The TDI is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, while the TSFI mill uses a 7-speed S-Tronic transmission.
The A6 Allroad is still some way off. The A6 Allroad is still not available on the market. It will be sold in Germany in June. The A6 will start at around $50,000 in the U.S.; the Allroad will cost a little more.
