2019 Audi A6: Check Out The Changes Side by Side

Although the changes to the A6 may not be immediately apparent, they are much more evident when you get closer.

German automakers are currently focusing on updating the design of their vehicles for every new generation, rather than re-designing existing products. This styling philosophy is perfectly exemplified by Audi’s recent redesign of the . Although the changes appear minor at first, you can see the differences by comparing the new and old version of the sedan side to side.

The A6 is always shown on the left in the comparison tools below. The previous version is displayed on the right.

Front

The biggest changes to the 2019 Audi A6’s front end are the following: The new grille has a wider, more defined edge and is now sharper. Audi’s designers have also moved the headlights closer towards the grille by giving them pointed edges. The lower fascia has a more complex appearance, with the grille appearing to hover around it. These changes result in an A6 that appears more modern and futuristic, due to its more angular parts and the sharper creases on the hood.

Front Three-Quarters

It’s quite surprising, after the major changes made to the front end of the sedan, how similar it looks from the three-quarters perspective to the older-gen A6. The designers have made some minor adjustments to the front end, but they also added more prominent sculpting to the doors. The model’s shoulders are also shaped with sharper lines.

Profil

When viewing the profile of the A6 you can see the changes in the three-quarters view. These tweaks give the new generation a more muscular appearance that the previous model.

Rear Three-Quarters

Audi’s designers made some changes to the rear of the A6. The new A6’s rear end has a wider area for the taillights, giving them a more uniform appearance. The sedan’s tail is accented visually by a sawtooth pattern of LEDs. The model’s width is also highlighted by a metallic strip that runs between the taillights.

The lower fascia is more interesting. The corners are now more aggressive thanks to new cuts. The new generation of A6 has a similar theme to the tailpipes. They have sharper edges and larger outlets.

Interior

The A6’s interior features a more modern cockpit than the previous model. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel is integrated into the A6. The steering wheel appears slightly larger which allows for a better view of screen. The latest generation features a cleaner layout, with HVAC vents at the top and the display below. A second digital screen is located further down to control the ventilation controls. The cabin is much smaller if the gearshift is too long.

The interior is a little too busy. The trim is available in a variety of metallic and gloss-black finishes. There’s also wood on the console, as well as a gray headliner. It doesn’t look cohesive because of the color choices.

In June, the new A6 will go on sale in Germany. It’ll then slowly trickle out to other countries.
