The off-roader isn’t available for purchase until next year.
Chevrolet has already revealed its Colorado hardcore back in September. So, the photos today aren’t spy shots in any sense. There is no camo wrap, black tarps or cleverly colored tape hiding anything. These photos are missing the Bison’s large snorkel, which was prominently displayed on Chevy’s media photos at the time the pickup was unveiled. We are sharing these photos because we think that most Bison buyers won’t ford rivers regularly.
We get a better view of the pickup’s profile. It’s still aggressive and as aggressive as ever. The new grille and front bumper make the truck stand out against the Colorado ZR2, along with the larger flares on the fenders. A special rear bumper is available for the Bison with integrated tow hooks. There are also a variety of boron-steel skid plates underneath.
The truck’s intimidating presence is also helped by the ZR2 2-inch suspension lift. The Bison’s underpinnings consist of locking differentials front-and-back, with Multimatic DSV Dampers supporting Bison-specific 17 inch wheels and 31-inch offroad tires.
That snorkel was featured prominently in Chevy’s media photos of the Bison’s launch. However, it is not part of the official Bison package. This means that you will most likely see the truck next year in person at your local dealer. The snorkel can still be ordered through American Expedition Vehicles. This aftermarket tuner Chevy used on the Bison can also order the tall breather. The Colorado ZR2 is more than $42,000, before the Bison add-ons. We don’t think people will be able to drive this truck through feet water. We don’t think so.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison goes on sale January 1.
