Although not much has changed, it appears that the same six-speed manual will continue to be used.
For 2019, the Chevy Camaro will be getting a minor overhaul. While the platform which underpins the current model will not change, there are some styling changes inside and out. Rumours of a new gearbox and other modifications have been made. The inside of the new coupe is shown in spy photos for the first time. This gives us a better idea about what we can expect.
These images show that the six-speed manual gearbox from the current Camaro is still in use. Rumours suggested that the Camaro would use the same seven speed transmission as the Corvette. However, it seems the Camaro will still keep the six-speed manual gearbox for the time being – at least in this trim. Recent CARB filings indicate that a 10-speed automatic is possible.
The Camaro’s exterior will have a modernized front fascia, similar to that seen on the 2018 Ford Mustang. Under all the camouflage, you can see a larger grille with sleeker headlights. Rear will also be updated with new taillights, and a revised fascia.
You won’t see much change under the hood in terms of engine options. It will be the same 6.2-liter V8 as the SS model, but it could be paired with the 10-speed automatic gearbox. Rumours suggest that a Z/28 hardcore model will be added to the lineup. Chevy was comparing its new Camaro to a Shelby GT350.
The 2019 Camaro will make its debut in a few months, before going on sale at the end of 2019. Pricing information is still unknown.
