The special edition includes visual enhancements as well as more standard equipment.
Mercedes enthusiasts are familiar with Edition 1 models, given that they have been around for a long time. The Daimler-owned company prepares a more luxurious version that will be available for 12 months after the official debut of a new-generation car. The A-Class Sedan Edition 1 will go on sale in about a year. It will work with all engines.
The premium price for the Mercedes’ smallest sedan in Germany is EUR7,021 Edition 1 offers more than these visual enhancements. It also includes a wider range of standard equipment. The Edition 1 includes the LED High Performance headlights and 64-color LED ambient lighting. It also features a multifunction leather-wrapped steering column and sports seats with adjustable head restraints.
Copper accents can be seen on the alloy 19-inch wheels and pins on the “diamond front grille”. Copper stitching is also seen on the dashboard’s top, just like the central armrests and the seats. Copper seams are used on all the panels, and the “Edition” graphic on the passenger’s side dashboard is similar. The copper-piping copper piping finishes off the look with the velour floormats.
Edition 1 is based on AMG Line and has “Edition” badges on the front fenders to indicate that it’s not an ordinary AMG Sedan. Mercedes has not yet said if this limited-run special edition will be made available in the United States or if it will remain an exclusive European model.
The A-Class Sedan will be available in the U.S. as an entry-level vehicle, by fitting underneath the CLA. It will also go on sale in A220 or A220 4Matic colors. The 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine will power both. It has 188 horsepower and 221 pounds-feet (300 Newton meters) of torque. This power is channeled to either the front wheels or both via a dual-clutch seven speed automatic transmission. Europeans have the option to order a more powerful version of the A250/A250 4Matic, which has 224 horsepower and 258 lb.ft (350 Nm), on tap.
