2019 Mercedes C-Class L brings its extended wheelbase to Beijing In China, it’s all about the legroom at the rear. At the Beijing Motor Show Mercedes will have not one but two world premieres. Apart from the controversial Maybach SUV Concept and the Sedan L models, the three-pointed star also displays the C-Class L, which is designed to cater to the Chinese market, where rear legroom is still an important consideration when buying a car. The C Class is a stretched version of the regular model. It follows the lead of the refresh Mercedes, which was also made and offered in China. The L version has an 8 cm (3.1 inch) longer wheelbase. The passenger sitting in the rear-right seat can adjust the legroom by moving the seat forward. The CN-spec C-Class L comes standard with LED headlights that have a new look. Those who are willing to spend more can choose the multibeam LED headslights. It has the same digital driver’s screen as the global C-Class, and the larger infotainment screen. There are 64 ambient LED colors to choose from, a multi-contoured seat package with a massage function and a range of new gasoline engines with EQ Boost (48 volt technology). The original Energizing comfort control was introduced last year for the S-Class. Six programs are available, each lasting 10 minutes. They alter the ambience lighting, sound and other settings to increase comfort in the cabin. Since July 2014, the C-Class L was in production at a Beijing factory owned by Beijing Benz Automotive. This joint venture is made up of Mercedes’ parent company Daimler as well as Chinese marque BAIC Motor. It began production in August 2005. Since the model’s inception, more than 380,000 cars were sold.
