The world was amazed by the unveiling of the 911 Speedster, its exquisitely designed 911 Speedster, at the 2019 New York Auto Show. It is the successor to the 991 Speedster, which was introduced in 2012. European order banks are now open and production is already underway. That’s 911 GT2RS cash in either case. So what do you get with that Speedster? The Speedster is more than a pretty face. It has the bones of the 911 GT3 flat-six, which produces 502 horsepower (374kilowatts), and enhanced individual throttle bodies for better throttle response. The engine spins at a spine-tingling 9,000 RPM. You can only change gears with a six-speed manual clutch transmission.
The Speedster’s chassis doesn’t come straight from the 911 GT3. Porsche engineers have developed precise rear steering and dynamic engine mounts. The Speedster is lighter despite having a roofless design. This is due to the soft top that can be manually operated and also to carbon fiber in many body panels. The manual gearbox is also lighter than the seven-speed and dual clutch transmissions. Porsche claims that the Speedster can reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and 192 mph straight out.
