The Macan was Porsche’s most important model. It outsold the 911 by a three to one margin. The Cayenne’s little brother, the Macan, was sold 97,000 times in 2017. The Macan is going through a mid-cycle update, and we’ll likely see it in the second half of 2018.
After looking at a number of spy photos showing a prototype that was barely camouflaged, we decided to investigate the mystery. The changes that the Macan will get are subtle, in typical Porsche fashion. This is especially true when it comes to the changes made to the front fascia.
It’s likely that you won’t be able to notice the changes, but it might be different at the back. The latest Panamera, Cayenne and some 911 versions (991.2) getting a full-width strip of light, it makes sense that the refreshed Macan also gets it, especially considering spy shots show the next-gen 911 (992), will have it.
Inside the cabin, Porsche will make bigger modifications. The center console will be redesigned to allow for a larger touchscreen for the infotainment systems. The central air vents will be moved lower to make space for the larger display.
Porsche hinted recently that the engines for the Cayenne and Macan will get diesel engines. It has not yet developed a diesel engine and won’t start now. The two SUVs will receive them from the Volkswagen Group, most likely Audi.
The Macan updated could debut at the Paris Motor Show in October or on the World Wide Web as soon as possible.
