2019 Toyota Avalon Shows Sequential Turn Signals in New Teaser

Arriving at NAIAS on January 15,

Toyota’s teaser for the new Avalon seems to be focusing exclusively on the sedan’s lighting clusters. We were able to check out the headlights about a month ago and now have the chance to see the taillights. These are not your ordinary LED rear lights. They incorporate sequential turn signals, giving the car a high-tech look.

This is not a new feature, as many cars already have it, such as the Audi A4 or the Ford Mondeo. Although the shape of the taillights is the same as the previous model, the Avalon’s new graphics give it a more modern look. The headlights could be said the same about. We like the changes that the large sedan is making to the exterior to break up some of the car’s blandness.

Concerning the oily bits: The 2019 Avalon will move to the Toyota New Global Architecture, (TNGA), like the new Camry or the next-gen Corolla. Based on spy shots, we know that some versions will have dual exhaust tips and others will have a quad exhaust setup. The engine that powers the large sedan will determine this, according to logic.

Toyota’s familiar, 3.5-liter V6 engine is on the horizon. A hybridized four-cylinder mill might also be in development for those looking to improve fuel economy. A turbocharged four-cylinder with no electrification might be possible, but this is not certain.

On January 15, the fifth-generation Toyota Avalon will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show, Detroit. Although a new Avalon looks great, we can’t help but be excited to see the Supra.
