The German SUV looks sharper than ever.
The long-awaited debut of Volkswagen’s new Tuareg was a long one. The new SUV from Volkswagen is expected to debut in early 2018 and will be more luxurious and advanced than its predecessor. Although prototype spy photos give us an idea of how it may look, recent commercial shots captured the SUV in its entirety.
The new Touareg looks more modern and sleeker than its predecessor. The front fascia features a sculpted grille and integrated headlights. There is also a lot of chrome detailing. Many design elements that were found on the T-Prime concept and the new Arteon sedan are still present.
The Touareg’s back is also updated. Two chrome exhaust tips can be seen, though it is unclear if they are functional or just for display. The two trim levels shown are the blue and beige models. The beige model has a sportier feel while the beige model seems more luxurious.
The new VW Touareg, which will be riding on VW’s MLB Evo platform, will have its bones in common with the Audi Q7. The new SUV’s engine will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder base model. A high-powered R model is expected to follow. This could use the 2.5-liter five cylinder turbo engine from Audi.
VW’s Bratislava plant in Slovakia is currently building the new Touareg. Production will begin in November. It is expected that the SUV will debut in sheet metal in early next year. Rumours suggest it may also make its debut at Auto China in Beijing in May.
