This could happen because the Touareg shares its platform and the Urus.
Unfortunately, buyers in the United States won’t have the opportunity to purchase the new Volkswagen Touareg. However, the new flagship SUV from the German marque will be available to European consumers. The 2019 model features a bold new design, a tech-focused interior, and a variety of engine options, including two turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel options. It is a welcome upgrade.
The new Touareg, however, isn’t immune to the trend towards coupe-style SUVs. The new Touareg has been reimagined by Aksyonov Nickia, the rendering artist whose work we previously. It looks amazing.
The front fascia features the same design elements as before, including the matrix-styled LED headlights and larger, more defined grille. The new wheels, which appear to have been borrowed from the Arteon sedan’s , are particularly attractive. However, it is out back, where most of the restyled elements are visible.
In line with SUVs such as the Lamborghini Urus or the upcoming Audi Q8, the rear haunch is designed to be steeper than other SUVs. The Touareg has the same bones as both these vehicles, and both are on the VW Group’s MLBevo platform. It makes sense that the mainstream model would also receive the same sleek treatment.
VW has not yet said whether the Touareg would adopt a second body style for production. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it, given the current trend towards coupe SUVs. The Touareg could be given a more powerful R treatment with visual upgrades and a boost in horsepower.
