Federal incentives may be able to lower the price.
In October, Audi continued model hybridization with 2020 Audi A8PHEV. This is the first step in the journey to electrification for Audi and other companies, but it’s still years away. Executives, VIPs, and big sedan enthusiasts can still ride/drive the plug in hybrid Audi but they will have to spend a lot. The model’s pricing has been released by Audi. It starts at $94,000.
The $94,000 MSRP does NOT include the $995 destination fee nor any taxes or additional charges. It’s still a lot more expensive than the entry level 2020 Audi A8 55TFSI, which starts at $85,200. Audi expects that A8 PHEV owners will be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $6,795. You may also be eligible to receive additional state incentives.
A8 PHEV owners can get a turbocharged V6 engine that produces 443 horsepower (330-watt) and 516 pound-feet (706 Newton-meters) of torque for that price. The Audi has a small electric motor that provides up to 17 miles pure electric range. Audi’s Quattro all wheel-drive system and eight-speed automatic transmission deliver power to all four wheels. Audi claims the sedan can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in six seconds. Its top speed is 150 MPH (241 KPH).
The electrified powertrain of the A8 also includes a few design tweaks, such as revised bumpers or an extra cap to hide the charging port. Audi also updated the interior dashboard to display hybrid-specific information and an EV button on the lower touchscreen to activate electric mode.
