This will be the first Audi SUV to receive the Sportback treatment.
Audi’s 130 th Annual Meeting saw several major announcements. Some of the announcements were positive, such as the new performance SUVs or the high end A8. The bad news was the TT’s death after this gen, and the uncertain future of the R8. The Q3 Sportback will be one of the seven new SUV models that Audi used to call the Q4. We now know when it will be revealed.
Bram Schot (Audi AG Chairman of Management) spoke during the meeting and revealed that the Q3 Sportback will be unveiled sometime in July. The German premium marque will host a special event for the swoopy, as there are no auto shows in July. SUV Similar to what Skoda did yesterday, Volkswagen will do in October with its next-gen Golf.
This shows that traditional auto shows are losing their importance. More automakers are hosting their own events to showcase new products and not share the spotlight with other companies. The Q3 Sportback will still be on display at major auto shows, as Audi will most likely have it there in September during the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, this won’t make it the first time.
Bram Schot mentioned that the “Sportback” treatment would be extended across the entire company’s portfolio to include models from both the “A” or “Q” families. The fully electric E-Tron, which was launched in 2018, will be getting a more sleeker derivative. This suffix is no longer used on the A3.

As the only significant difference between the two is the bodywork, the first-ever Audi Q3 Sportback will likely be a reskinned Q3. The standard Audi Q3 Sportback will carry the engine, gearboxes and technology from its more conventionally designed sibling. The range-topping RS Q3 Sportback was seen carrying what appeared to be a full production body. We won’t likely have to wait long to see a compact five-cylinder coupe-SUV from Ingolstadt.
The Audi Q3 Sportback was revealed in July. It will be produced at the plant in Gyor in Hungary later this year.
