The changes can be significant even if it is a mid-cycle refresh.
The fancy new SUV is drawing all the attention. But let’s not forget that the Q7, which is heavily based on it, is due for a mid-cycle refresh. We have seen the prototypes of this SUV, so Kolesa.ru decided to digitally remove camouflage to show how styling will change for the Q7.
The overall design and majority of the body panels will remain the same, but the Q7’s rear and front bumpers will be redesigned. Audi will make the most noticeable changes to the front fascia. It will give the three-row SUV an even smaller grille and entirely new headlights, bringing them in line the other models with the Four Rings. The shape of the clusters will change. However, the interior graphics will be updated with the new LED daytime running lights.
The same story will unfold at the back, where the bulky taillights from the Q7 will be replaced with a more sleek set that follows the same lighting pattern. To make the SUV seem larger and more impressive, the render shows the new model with a chrome bar connecting the two headlights. It is not clear if this will be present on the actual vehicle, or Audi will add a full-width lightbar like the Q8, A8, or A7 Sportback.
We are curious to see if the MMI-styled tablet will be replaced by a sleekly integrated touchscreen, just like the cars. This should happen, as the Q7’s current display would look outdated in comparison to the more sporty and exciting Q8.
An official unveiling is expected to occur later in the year. The hotter, diesel-powered Q7 will arrive in 2020. Audi Sport could still make an RS Q7, as it wants to expand its SUV range. It would be logical to bring the RSQ8 with both TFSI or TDI engines depending on where you live.
