Audi claims its super wagon is infused with the Dark Side of the Force.

The new Audi RS6 model is always a big deal, but estate enthusiasts adore the Avant. This machine is a classic in high-performance wagons for over 17 years. As of yesterday, a new model has made its way to enthusiasts. It has been a hero throughout its run, smashing supercar drivers with unimaginable speed. Audi seems to have something more sinister in mind for its muscle wagon.

Reality Vs Fiction: The RS6

The Autocar report explains the RS6 Avant’s exterior design in simple terms. Francesco D’Amore clearly loves Star Wars and he compares the new RS6’s design to sci-fi’s most infamous villain.

He reportedly stated that the “old” RS6 was a hero to us and that he had to think of how to top it. It’s a vast improvement over the A6 standard. This is Darth Vader. It is the Autobahn killer.

This is a bold statement, but it’s clear that the new RS6 Avant will deliver. The Avant’s distinctive power-bulge hood houses a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8. It also uses a mild hybrid setup. The long roof generates 591 horsepower (411 Kilowatts), which is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. You can reach 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds if you press the throttle.

Welcome Wagons

This is a fast car for all types, even one that can carry four adults and Stormtrooper armor. Its 155 mph speed limiter is not something we would consider to be a killer on the Autobahn. Audioffers an option Dynamic Package which can increase the speed limiter to 174 mph. If that doesn’t work, Dynamic Package Plus will send the Avant to 190 MPH. This should leave behind the vast majority of Autobahn travellers – on all sections.

Unfortunately, RS6 Avant buyers in North America will not be able to enjoy such speeds at a racetrack, but it’s not a reason to be disappointed . It’s great to see Audi openly discuss bringing the Avant to America, especially with Detroit’s automakers abandoning sedans and station wagons. We hope buyers will respond with their wallets, as we would love to see Darth Vader stay for a while.
