Under the camo wrap, it should be able to produce 300 horsepower.

It’s spy photo Tuesday on Motor1.com. The automakers are busy testing mid-summer vehicles on the streets around the globe. In the past 24 hours, we have seen spy photos of the new Cadillac Escalade’s interior, the Porsche 911 Turbo and BMW M3 attacking the Nurburgring, Smart’s ForFour electric vehicle facelift, the Mercedes-Benz GLA cruising through traffic and the first glimpse at the Hyundai Elantra. These sharp images show a camo-wrapped Audi S3 sedan taking in some afternoon sunshine.

Teased!

Although we’ve seen the Sportback on the streets, this is our second encounter with the sedan. It’s no surprise that it adopts Audi’s latest version of its iconic grille. The opening is slightly wider and less gaping. It is very similar to the current but a little smaller overall. This is quite interesting considering the current trend of automakers giving everything a “coupe profile”. Although it is possible that such a machine will eventually be available, it would slot somewhere between the sedan or Sportback. However, this is pure speculation at this point.

The S3’s power source is another area that falls into guesswork, though it is well-educated guesswork. It is likely that a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine similar to the one in the current S3 will be used, but it could produce up to 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). Because it is an Audi, power would go to all four wheels.

Only a few prototypes of the S3 have been caught so far, but they were all seen in recent times. This usually means that a reveal is still far off. However, we have seen many other S3 variants since 2018. Our intel suggests that Audi will launch the S3 Sedan in Europe in 2020, following the A3’s unveiling later in the year. Soon after, a North American release is expected.
