What is the stylish sedan doing?

In 1990, the BMW 8 Series was released. Those who could afford the grand tourer were forced to stick with the coupe. Bavarian marque expanded the model’s family to include a convertible and a sedan to mark its return after a nearly two-decade absence. These three models will replace the 6 Series Coupe, Convertible and the more practical Gran Coupe. These new models are part of the 8er lineup, which denotes that they offer more luxury and refinement than the 6 Series-badged model.

BMW already has the two-door models. This teaser suggests that the 8 Series Gran Coupe will soon be available. The stunning M8 concept was shown off a little more than a year ago at Geneva Motor Show. The sedan, which is swoopy and sleek, will be revealed “soon”, according to the teaser video, shot in the desert. What is the time frame? BMW plans to host the world premiere in June, which is about one month away.

The design and technical specifications for the eight-door 8 Series are not difficult to understand, but that’s just the truth. A prototype that is ready for production was seen on a trailer last Wednesday with very minimal camouflage. The sedan below, while not as sleek as the coupe, is still very elegant and stylish. It was shown in the warm M850i model.

You may recall that the prototype for the 8 Series’ first generation was almost built with an M8 variant. However, plans were scrapped. BMW will give the coupe not only the full-fat M8 variant but also the convertible, and the sedan. The E31 M8’s powerful V12 will not be found in these three models, as they all rely on the twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V8. The eight-cylinder mill will produce more than 600 horsepower in M8 Competition.

The market launch of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is scheduled for September. Its debut will take place in Munich at the #NextGen event. The already spied in testing, the M8 derivative will arrive sometime in 2020.
