Next – A 10 Series?
Two days ago, we were discussing the possibility that BMW would replace the 6 Series with a new range of models called the 8 Series. A new report claims that the Bavarian brand plans a 9 Series that is more powerful and luxurious than the upcoming Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
Auto Bild states that the car will be based upon the 7 Series, but with a slightly longer platform. This basically means that we’ll be dealing with a sedan inspired by the Vision Future Luxury concept, which was revealed at the Beijing Motor Show 2014.
The new 9 Series is expected to arrive in 2020. It will provide luxurious comfort for those seated in the back, thanks to two separate seats with their own infotainment and screens.
The 7 Series, 8 Series and 9 Series will likely share the majority of their engine options, with the 6.6-liter V12 the most popular. This engine is available for the M760LiXDrive. It produces 600 horsepower (441 Kilowatts) and 591 poundfeet (801 Newton meters) of power. The engine is delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid system, which will combine a turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor, could also be an option for the 9 Series. It is expected to produce more than 326 horsepower (240 kW)
Although the information is vague, Harald Krueger (CEO of BMW) stated that he was a huge fan of the 9 series concept in 2015. This indicates that the Bavarian brand plans to launch a flagship model.
