2020 BMW M2 CS With More Power, Better Suspension and A Manual

The dual-clutch auto is faster than the 60 by 0.2 seconds.

After a year of speculations and spy photos the 2020 BMW M2 CS is finally here. The M2 CS offers more power, tweaked appearances, and better performance than the M2 Competition.

The turbocharged S55 six-cylinder engine from BMW powers M’s smallest performance vehicle. It produces 444 horsepower (327 Kilowatts) as well as 406 pound-feet (551 Newton-meters), which is 39 horsepower more (29 kilowatts), than the M2 competitor. It can be paired with either a seven speed dual-clutch manual or seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The auto is the best choice if you are looking for a time that is between 60 and 60. It can travel at 60 mph (96 km/h) in 0.2 seconds faster than the manual, which takes 3.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 174 mph (280 km/h). These numbers may change before production starts in March 2020.

The Active M differential and Adaptive M spring are standard equipment. This suspension was not available previously on the M2. There are three modes of drive: Comfort, Sport and Sport+. Optional M Carbon Ceramic Brakes can be used in place of the standard M Compound Brakes. Standard are 19-inch wheels with a high-gloss jet black finish. However, a gold matte finish can be chosen. There are also Michelin Cup 2 tires.

A lot of carbon fiber reinforced poly (CFRP) is used in the BMW M2 CS. The German automaker uses the material to make the roof, front splitter and rear spoiler. It also makes the M twin-stalk exterior mirrors, rear diffuser and hood. This hood weighs half as much as a traditional steel one. It also finds its way inside, slashing six pounds (2.7 kg) from the center console.

There’s plenty leather and Alcantara inside, covering the dash and center armrest. Alcantara is used to cover the M Sport steering wheel. It has red contrast stitching with red accent stitching. Standard M Competition seats are available in Alcantara or black leather with red contrast stitching. These seats have the BMW Motorsports stripes embroidered into their headrests. The CS logo is located on the rear seat backrests.

The 2020 BMW M2 CS is set to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
