With minor performance improvements and upgraded aero components, the CS/CSL model should be able to slot above M2 Competition.
The BMW M2 will soon be hotter. Unfortunately, BMW testers will have to travel through snowy northern latitudes in order to get their production version. That’s where our spy cameras caught the black Bimmer demonstrating its upgraded components. We suspect that the car is actually blue. However, BMW could be following Porsche’s lead and giving prototypes a black wrap in order to conceal details. This car still has a little camouflage swirl at its rear spoiler and front fascia.
Ironically, these two areas instantly grab our attention as places of interest. This is a M2 CS and/or the CSL for countries outside the USA. It’s receiving aero tweaks, such as a lower spoiler lip at the front fascia and a new decklid spoiler, in comparison to the M2 Competition. These are the obvious changes. However, there are also some subtle tweaks to the hood and rear diffuser. We suspect that the roof is made of carbon fiber under the black wrap.
The wheels have massive brakes visible behind them. Rumours suggest that those units will be carbon ceramic upgraded. The M2 will also be equipped with 19-inch forged YSpoke 763M wheels. Other performance enhancements are not known, but the car will produce 405 horsepower (302 Kilowatts) from its twin-turbo inline-6 found in the M2 Competition. The Competition’s seven-speed dual clutch gearbox can be used for cog swapping, although the six-speed manual may be available.
We have not heard any hints about when the car might be available in dealer showrooms. This is our second sighting of the white test mule since October , when we first saw it. We expect to see more test cars in the wild before the reveal. It is possible to see the M2 CS in its unwrapped state later this year at Frankfurt.
