It should be worth the wait if the actual car is half as nice as this.
Spoiler alert: The new BMW 3 Series will be coming soon. It’s not a spoiler, but we have BMW prototypes of the new sedan. It’s not an exaggeration. We have a spy image archive of the new 3 Series going back to early 2016, BMW’s latest campaign indicates that the reveal is near. Expect something in the coming weeks, ahead of the Paris Motor Show.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait longer to test the next HTML3. But our friend Aksyonov Nickito at Behance.net has had enough of waiting. Although we have not yet seen the 3 Series in its entirety, our eyes are discerning and these fan renders capture what we have seen so far, both in spy photos as well as design cues taken from other BMW models. The model is convincing and will make it difficult to wait for the arrival of the new ‘Bahn burner.
The rear is the only minor problem that we find out-of-place. The exhaust is a problem if you are an M3 fan. On a standard 3 Series, you will find a pair of single-outlet tips either side. But not on an M3. Dual tips were used on even the E30’s high-powered single-outlet exhaust. Quads became standard on the E46 in the late 1990s. It is reasonable to expect BMW to continue this tradition with the next M3.
When will we see the new M3? The rendering is 2018 BMW M3, but the actual deal will not be revealed until 2020. It is expected to arrive later in 2019, so it should appear sooner than expected. The car will be lighter and more powerful than the current M3, and it will also have active rear steering. It should be absolutely amazing.
