A turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder will provide the power, or a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6.
Cadillac believes sedans still have a bright future, even though SUVs and crossovers have overtaken the automobile world. The new CT5 will replace the mediocre CTS that was under the CT6. This investment came from GM’s Lansing Grand River plant.
The new C5 continues the vertical lights theme, but the sedan’s front design is more aggressive than we are used to seeing in Cadillac. The blacked-out front grille reminds us of the Escala concept. While the vertical taillights make it stand out from its larger brother, the sedan’s design is different. The Premium Luxury trim is in Burgundy, while the Sport is in Silver.
We have one image of the interior. It is the center console, which has an elegant wood trim, and houses the rotary controller for our new infotainment systems. The door cards are made of more wood, and the seats and central armrest have plush leather. Our spies captured a prototype of the CT5’s interior on camera a while ago, as some of you may be familiar.
The 2020 Cadillac CT5 is an evolution of the Alpha platform. It will come with rear- or all-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine. A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 option will be offered. Both engines are coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission that promises “nearly imperceptible shifting.”
The new Cadillac CT5 will be on display at the New York Auto Show next month, before sales begin towards the end. The pricing details of the sedan have not yet been revealed, but it is obvious that it will be less expensive than the CT6’s starting price of $50,495 The CTS, which is now defunct, retailed at $46,995 without options.
