It is just half the power of the CTS-V that it replaces.
Cadillac offered a double punch to fans of performance sedans in Detroit today, unveiling both the new CT4V compact sedan, and the rumored CT5V. Cadillac decided to tighten the controls on its midsize sedan, despite the fact that the CT5’s V-8-powered predecessor was an incredible barnstormer. Its 640-horsepower supercharged V8 engine produced 640 horsepower. We mean a lot tighter.
The new CT5-V is not equipped with a Blackwing engine, but rather a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 that produces an estimated 355 horsepower (265 Kilowatts) as well as 400 pound-feet (542 Newton meters) of torque. Although performance figures aren’t available, suffice to say that it won’t blow tires apart like the CTS-V. The power goes to the rear wheels, or all four via a 10-speed auto.
The CT5-V is built on a V-Series performance chassis and Magnetic Ride Control 4.0. Brembo front brakes have 13.6-inch rotors and Performance Traction Management allows drivers to customize their handling experience. Cadillac offers Super Cruise, which allows you to let the car drive the car. The package includes V-specific bodywork, with prominent badgering and a monochromatic outside.
Brandon Vivian, Cadillac Executive Chief Engineer, stated that the new V-Series sedan line-up embodies modern sophistication. It combines luxury appointments with thoughtful technology and athletic refinement to satisfy the most discerning of enthusiasts. We are inviting more customers to the V-Series family. This is because we have added a new level in performance between our Sport models as well as the ultimate, high-performance track capabilities that the V-Series has become known for.
The 2020 model of the CT5-V will be available for purchase in early 2019.
