You can find design cues in the Escala concept.
The current Cadillac Escalade is on the market since 2014. This makes it a relatively old car on the automotive timeline. However, Cadillac is promising a refreshed Escalade by 2020. According to reports, the SUV will not only have three rows but also have three engines.
According to the website Cadillac Society the 2020 Escalade will have two new engines in addition to its existing V8. Although the 6.2-liter small block will remain, expect a slight increase in power. The Escalade produces 420 horsepower (313 Kilowatts) or 460 pound-feet (621 Newton meters) of torque.
Cadillac’s 4.2-liter twin turbo V8 will be the first engine. It was derived from the V-Sport. It produces 550 horsepower (410 kW) as well as 627 lbft (850 Nm), in its most powerful configuration. Caddie could theoretically give Escalade the same power output as the Cadillac and add a V-Sport badge on the backside. The new V8 will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Escalade will use a plug-in hybrid option for its second powertrain. Cadillac already offers a plug in CT6 that pairs two electric motors with a turbocharged four cylinder engine to produce 335 horsepower (259 kW). The technology that powers the large SUV should be used.
The new Escalade is still years away, however. According to reports, the new Escalade will be released in 2019 and on sale in 2020. With cues from the Escala, the new SUV will undergo a complete redesign inside and outside. It won’t be Cadillac’s only new SUV. Cadillac will also introduce the XT4 to dealers, as well as an updated XT5 and a new three row XT6 next year.
