2021 Coupe Production Increased To November

We have some good news for those who have been waiting to get their 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. According Corvette Blogger, and reliable tipster “Corvette Ed”, production of the mid-engine droptop will begin on July 13th at GM’s Bowling Green factory in Kentucky. It’s a long-awaited announcement for those who are still waiting for their 2020 Corvette, but it will also have an impact on the 2021 Corvette.

Corvette Ed, a Corvette dealer in the top 100, said that his local GM rep gave the information. He stated that the delay has forced 2021 model production to be moved back to November 2 instead of the September start date. General Motors has not made any announcements about the Corvette Convertible and 2021 C8 production. Kelly Wysocki, spokesperson for General Motors, told Motor1.com by email that “We are still in process of resuming Bowling Green production and will not engage with speculation about production timings for any variants/future model years.”

Although the coronavirus pandemic had a significant impact on automobile production, Chevrolet shut down Bowling Green, however, the Corvette’s Bedford chassis plant in Indiana never stopped working, despite a smaller staff. Despite all the efforts to keep the wheels moving, Bowling Green had produced only 2,700 customer cars as of April 10. This was due in large part to the coronavirus that has choked the supply chain.

The mid-engine Corvette will see some significant changes in its second year. This includes two new colors, exposed carbon-fiber elements and wireless Apple CarPlay. GM also offers excellent magnetic dampers for all trims, without the Z51 package.

These new plans seem to be predicated on the United States containing the pandemic. We wouldn’t be surprised if the United States doesn’t manage to contain the pandemic.
