It’s impossible to miss once you’ve seen it.
After months of delays, the 2020 Chevy corvette finally arrives in the hands and hearts of owners all over the country. Production began in February. Since then, many owners and tuners have taken to social media to show off their new sports car. Many have shared their mid-engine Corvettes with great enthusiasm, but not all of them were positive. One owner visited Corvette Forum to display their dashboard with wavy stitching.
It seems that the issue is affecting Corvette owners who have chosen the 3LT trim. This adds a significant price difference to the Corvette’s starting price of $60,000, which is below the Corvette’s. Some users attempted to diagnose the problem, asking whether the wavy stitches could be caused by low-quality adhesive or the dash peeling away. Some wondered if the dashboard contracted and expanded in the sun, which could have caused the imperfection. We reached out to Chevy but it does not seem to be widespread. If we get back, we’ll update this story.
Some were shocked that the dashboard’s wavy stitching passed all quality control checks by the factory, supplier, and dealer before it was installed and delivered. Other dashboards had similar issues. This problem is located near the junction of the dash and the center console, as you can see in several photos embedded within the Corvette Forum story. The interior convergence is odd between the trim pieces.
We’ll find out if this is a bigger issue for more Corvette owners as more cars are purchased. There are Corvettes with interiors that are well-stitched and don’t have the same issue. We hope that the owner can find the root cause of the problem and will also be able to offer a solution. We understand that owners may be frustrated by the uneven stitching. Once you see it, it’s impossible to miss it.
