2020 Honda Fit Introduces Five Trim Levels and a New Hybrid System
Although the subcompact will be available for purchase in February, it might not make it to America.

In 2001, the Honda Fit was the first subcompact car to win over the hearts of its fans. The fourth-generation model will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019. While the Fit’s short front and rear proportions are well-known, Honda claims that this new model will be available in five flavors to fit a variety of lifestyles. Although the Fit is being billed as a compact car that will be accepted worldwide, it is not clear if it will find a home on the U.S. markets.

More from Tokyo

Although the fourth-gen Fit maintains its outstanding frontal visibility from inside, a new front pillar has a different cross-sectional structure to the model before it. Honda claims this design is more effective for absorbing impact into the body in case of collision. The Honda Sensing advanced safety program further protects occupants. This setup includes a front wide-view camera that works with eight sonar sensor front and back to improve the Fit’s emergency auto brake functionality. It’s standard equipment on all trims of the fourth-generation Fit.

The 2020 Fit comes in a variety of trim levels: Basic, Home and Ness, Crosstar, as well as Luxe. It’s a progression of Basic and Luxe trims, with leather seats, platinum-style chrome plating, and 16-inch wheels. Crosstar takes it a step further with a sportier appearance and soft-roader theme. It even has water-repellent materials in its interior. Ness gets the water-repellent treatment, as well as a variety of colors that have a sporty look. Home receives fabric seats and other materials.

Honda has not yet provided information about the Fit’s new powertrain. However, we have been told that a hybrid model will be equipped with the newly announced e.HEV two-motor hybrid system. This will also be available in the Accord. Honda has not yet provided any details, but it claims that this system will be the company’s main hybrid system. Honda emphasizes electric power over internal combustion engines.

The Fit will also be the first vehicle to receive Honda Connect’s on-board communications system. You can remotely control certain vehicle functions via your smartphone. There are also emergency support services for traffic accidents. Security services can dispatch a security guard to you if there is “an abnormal condition occurring to the vehicle”.

Honda claims the new Fit will be available for purchase in February. However, North American availability is not confirmed. The pricing will be made available at a later time.
