These are the first photographs of a reworked entrance.
A spy photo taken by an amateur captured some images of the 2020 Hyundai Telluride’s front end that are different to the one in the concept. Although the quality of the images is not great, it shows enough of the front clip. The concept’s headlights and grille look different. The slender horizontal headlights are gone. They are now replaced with wide vertical units that look more like a riff on the Cadillac Escalade. The wide, commanding grille is a bold and powerful concept. It’s narrower and has been extended wider to fill in the space left by the horizontal headlights.
These aren’t unexpected changes. The front end was covered in spy photos that showed a new design of headlights/. It was believed that the two-by-2 unit change orientation was used. The new vertical headlights feature a unique design. The exposed front ends also show intakes beneath the headlights, which sit in front the wheels. The opening in the lower fascia can be seen clearly.
The large, three-row crossover will be positioned above the Sorento in Kia’s lineup. Powertrain details remain unknown. The concept was first presented by Kia in a plug-in hybrid system that produced 400 horsepower using a 270-hp V6 motor and a 130hp electric motor. This powertrain delivered power to all four wheels. The powertrain will not be used in the production Telluride. The SUV will be powered by a gasoline engine, possibly two. These design changes are disappointing. With its high-heeled grille and upright A-and D-pillars, the concept stood out. It stood out among the many sleek crossovers offered by other automakers. We will not be able to make a final judgement until the production version is revealed. The 2020 Kia Telluride will be available soon, possibly later in the year or early next. It should also debut before entering production sometime in 2019.
