What would you take back with you?
Although the modern Land Rover Defender isn’t getting a pickup version like the previous one, rendering artists continue to show how such a machine might look. spdesignsest uses the five-door 110 model to make a truck with a tiny cargo bed.
This rendering shows the Defender’s exterior, with the exception of the back. Spdesignsest has made the rear glass quite large. The swing-out door at back is used by the artist to access the cargo area.
It is quite limited in functionality. The cargo bed is only a few feet in length, so there are limits to how much one can haul. This setup is not designed to transport drywall or plywood home.
Land Rover claims that the D7x platform can support a Defender pickup. The company does not believe that the vehicle is a good business idea for its brand because it doesn’t have sufficient knowledge of the market for commercial pickup trucks.
Land Rover is rumored to be looking to expand the Defender range by offering a larger 130 model. This extra space would allow for an additional row of seats, which would increase the passenger capacity.
Spy shots also reveal that is currently being developed as a V8-powered version 110. It is possible that the registration information indicates that it uses a 5.0-liter engine, which is similar to Land Rover’s supercharged unit used in other models.
The Defender is now available in the United States. Prices start at $49,900 plus a $1,025 delivery charge. You might have to wait if you are looking for one. Land Rover has limited stock due to not being able build the crossover during the coronavirus pandemic.
