This one will arrive in the United States later this year, which makes it even more special.
After the American debut at the Consumer Electronics Show of the CLA 250, Mercedes expands its product range with the 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA35. This new model has 302 horsepower (225kilowatts) as well as 295 pound-feet (405 Newton-meters) of turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter. It replaces the CLA 250, which had 221 hp (165kW) and 258lb-ft (355 Nm).
The 2.0-liter engine with twin-scroll turbo connects to a seven speed dual-clutch transmission that routes the output to an All-Wheel-Drive system with torque vectoring at its rear. Mercedes claims that the CLA 35 can reach 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) in 4.6 seconds.
With some visual enhancements to the CLA 250, the CLA 35 displays its superior performance. The front end has a pair bar that cuts through the grille, and chrome trim on the louvers at the corners of the fascia. The standard wheels are 18 inches, but it is possible to upgrade to 19-inch components. The back of the vehicle has a diffuser and two circular exhaust outlets, one on each side.
The CLA 35 has an aluminum shear panel beneath the engine, which increases torsional stiffness. This is in contrast to other variants. The rigidity of the sedan is also increased by a pair of diagonal braces. The optional adaptive dampers can be added to make the sedan more responsive.
Mercedes’ familiar MBUX system is used in the interior of the AMG model. It features wide 10.25-inch screens that display information and instruments. It gains three AMG-specific display modes, Classic, Sport, and Supersport. Customers can choose from a two-tone cabin layout such as a combination of black and red, or black and digital gray. Customers can choose from 64 colors of LED ambient lighting to suit their mood.
The CLA 35 will have a public debut at the New York Auto Show April 16th and will also be available at American dealers later in the year. Mercedes will not yet reveal pricing.
