The GLE shines in the Paris lights.

The Paris Motor Show has arrived. Mercedes will be set up on the showfloor, ready for patrons as well as the press to look over the newest models. The GLE SUV is a new model that Mercedes unveiled last month along with lots of press images and information. Mercedes now has its display set up and some new images from the show floor of the new SUV.

We do receive more photos but no new information. Mercedes’ only model is the GLE 450 4Matic. It features a mild hybrid powertrain, a turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-six engine, and a nine-speed manual gearbox. The engine produces 362 horsepower (270 Kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (369 Newton-meters), while the electric motor provides an additional boost of 21 HP (16 kW) or 184 lb/ft (265 Nm). According to the company, the GLE will soon get a plug in hybrid and turbodiesel engine.

“We founded the premium SUV segment with M-Class 21 years ago. Britta Seeger (Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG), responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales, says that the importance of these models has increased over the years. That’s a strong motivator for us to improve the GLE. The extra space will benefit families, while businesspeople will appreciate the increased connectivity. Outdoor enthusiasts will also love the new driving capabilities.

GLE is more aerodynamic and the GLE will grow for 2020 over the previous model. The result is that passengers have more legroom and headroom. There’s also an optional third row of seats, which increases passenger capacity to seven. E-Active Body Control System is an option for passengers who want more comfort. It uses the 48-volt electric system to adjust each corner’s dampers individually.

This cluster sits alongside an infotainment display of the same size. An optional head-up display is also available, which is 20 percent brighter and twice as large as the previous version.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE will make its public debut at Paris Motor Show, before going on sale in the United States of America and Europe in early 2019. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
