A little over a year ago, Ford announced that an all-new Mustang Shelby GT500 would be coming with at minimum 700 horsepower. Although we have some information about the new Mustang, that day is here. The GT500 looks great and is a Shelby superstar. It has all the aero tweaks of the GT350.
Everyone is wondering if the GT500 is up to the task of challenging its cross-town rivals in the ever-evolving battle for domestic muscle car supremacy. We’re referring to the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. These are two vehicles Ford has been unable to match since the GT500 vanished with the end of the fifth-generation Mustang platform.
Although there is still much to know about the latest Shelby, there is enough information to give a basic comparison between the three war machines.
