The 718 lineup in America offers more fun.
We’ve known for a long time that Porsche’s T models were coming to America. Now, the Porsche 718 BoxsterT and CaymanT will make their U.S. debuts for the 2020 model year. They also bring some nice goodies. Porsche’s PASM Sport Suspension is standard on 718 T models. However, it’s optional on 718 S and GTS. Upgrades include shorter springs and retuned adaptive dampers. The ride height is 0.78 inches lower than the current setup.
A mechanical limited-slip differential is standard on the Boxster T, Cayman T, and Porsche Torque Vectoring. As with the sport suspension, the mechanical differential is still available on the 718 and 718 S models. They also have new 20-inch 911 Carrera S tires. These are finished in Titanium Grey.
The engine is one thing that hasn’t changed. The base model’s turbocharged 2.0-liter engine still works, producing 300 horsepower (223 Kilowatts) as well as 280 pound-feet (379 Newton meters) of torque. Both models are equipped with the quick-shifting PDK transmission, and launch control. They can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. The track speed is limited to 170 mph. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual with short-throw shifters. Standard equipment includes the Sport Chrono package.
The cabin is accented with special touches like SportTex fabric-covered standard sport seats. Full bucket seats are now available to buyers, replacing the limited 718 GTS or GT4 models. The headrests have a stitched “718” logo, while the dash is covered in high-gloss dark features. Each 718T model comes standard equipped with the GT Sport steering wheels.
