This is a 61-horsepower improvement over the current model.
The 2020 Porsche 911 TurboS is still months away. It will debut next spring, according to a new report by and Driver. The report doesn’t stop there. The publication was able to take a ride in the new 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S and gain a lot of insight into the sports car.
It’s finally here:
Porsche’s twin-turbocharged flat-six 3.8-liter engine powers the 992 Turbo S. Although it could produce 641 horsepower (477 Kilowatts) or 590 pound-feet (799 Newton meters) of torque, those numbers could change before its debut. We have heard rumors that the engine will produce at least 600 horsepower (447 kW). This is a substantial increase from the previous generation, which produced 580 HP (432 kW) & 553 lb/ft (749 Nm) respectively.
The extra power helps to counter the extra 100 pounds (45 kgs) of weight. The car can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.5 seconds, which Porsche claims is 0.1 second faster than the previous generation. According to Porsche, the top speed is 205 mph (329 km/h). The Turbo S name is a proudly displayed on this car.
Standard equipment includes all-wheel drive, while the 8-speed dual-clutch auto is the only available gearbox. Standard features include rear-wheel steering and Porsche Active Suspension management. The front rotors are 16.5 inches in diameter and the rear rotors are 15.4 inches. The front rotors are clamped by a 10-piston caliper from Porsche. Staggered 20- and 21 inch wheels are featured in this car, as opposed to the four 20 inches wheels on the Turbo S.
Price is one piece of information that is still elusive. We can however look at the $190,700 price of the current car as a starting point. Although it is unlikely that the next-generation car will be less expensive, it may still remain under $200,000 You could also add options or packages that can easily increase the cost to $200k. We will have to wait and watch.
