Do you want to risk it all for a Shelby ‘Stang
It’s not a new phenomenon for hot cars, particularly those that were recently launched. This has been done on the Toyota Supra and the Dodge Challenger RTDemon. It is likely that we will see the same fate with the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette as it arrives on dealer lots this year. However, before such a tragedy on the C8, a similarly anticipated sports car is being reported to be experiencing an uneventful dealer markingup in California. The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 gets an incredible $80,000 markup on the sticker price.
Fritts Ford is the dealership in Riverside, California. Speed Phhenom posted a video showing the Mustang Shelby GT500 being sold. It appears to be fully loaded and very unique. This particular Mustang Shelby GT500 is not the typical pony car in light colors with dark stripes. It’s black with blue stripes. We don’t believe the Mustang’s unique color scheme warrants a $80,000 markup. The Shelby Mustang starts at seventy grand. The car’s price should be around 100 grand with all of its options, including the carbon fiber track package or technology package and the $10,000 stripes.
It is not the first time that a dealer markup was reported for Mustang Shelby GT500. In December 2019, a Ford dealership in Virginia demanded $145,890 for the Mustang Shelby GT500 while a California dealership wanted $170,000. This Shelby GT500 could be our most expensive, however, at $185,890 dealer price. Is it worth the cost?
