2020 Skoda Octavia Redesigned With Sharp Wagon Body

We’ll probably see it first as a hatchback, although it’s expected to arrive later in the year.

Despite sales falling by 7.3 percent last year, the Octavia remained Skoda’s best-selling vehicle in 2018. The total number of 388,200 copies were shipped all over the globe, more than twice the amount of the two other cars on the podium (#2 Rapid, with 191,500, and #3 Fabia, with 190,900). We have high expectations for the next generation of Octavias, as the Mlada Boleslav firm has repeatedly stated that the Octavia model is the brand’s most valuable.

The Octavia IV, which will be the fifth generation of the model, is confirmed to make its debut in the second half of this year. It will mark the 60th anniversary of the model and debut as a convertible. The Czech bestseller is shown in the wagon body style. This is more popular in many countries than the hatchback-style sedan.

The speculative render is based on the Rapid-replacing Scala compact car, but has been extrapolated to fit the larger footprint of the Octavia. Skoda’s core car is technically compact, but it is nearly twice as long as midsize cars. This is what makes the model the best-in class cabin in terms of available space for passengers and the cavernous trunk. The hatch has 590 liters (20.83 cubic foot) and the wagon has 610 liters (21.54 cube feet).

History has shown us that the new Octavia is going to be bigger than the old one. Skoda, or should we call Volkswagen? We are certain. The MQB platform packaging has been improved to make the cabin more spacious, especially as the Scala is located below the Rapid.

Skoda has shared very little information about the new Octavia. The standard model will continue as a hatchback, with the silhouette of a sedan. It has been described previously as a “state-of-the art” car. Spy shots (attached to below) show that it will eliminate the controversial split headlights, which were introduced with the third-gen facelifted model in late 2016.

We will learn more about the Octavia over the coming months, as sister models Audi A3, SEAT Leon and VW Golf will be revealed before the Skoda.
