Skoda offers a closer look at Scout, Laurin & Klement and iV flavors.
Although a flagship model is not usually the most valuable in sales, it can be a symbol of the brand’s image and showcases the best of the best. The Superb was a middle-of-the-pack car in terms of number of deliveries to customers. Skoda hopes this year to improve those numbers with its new range topper.
After its debut in Bratislava yesterday, the 2020 Superb has been featured in a series videos focusing on the posh Laurin & Klement trim and the dynamic Sportline. The greener iV plug in hybrid is also being featured. They all have the updated bodywork, which includes discreetly modified bumpers and new full-LED matrix headlights. The taillights are also equipped with sequential turn signals. The PHEV model’s wider corporate grille meets the thinner headlights. In the case of the PHEV, it houses the charging port that is required to “fill up” the 13-kWh lithium-ion battery pack located in front of its rear axle.
Although the L&K model’s faux exhaust finishers aren’t our cup of tea they seem to be better than the Sportline. The Scout is the newcomer. It borrows the Octavia Scout proven formula of a jacked up suspension and a slightly ruggeder body to offer an attractive alternative to the Kodiaq large SUV. Skoda adds additional protection to the mix for your safety.
The 2020 Superb can be ordered in a hatchback or wagon body style, so it is easy to please all. This is actually a very good thing. The battery reduces the cargo space, so some people will opt for the wagon to partially offset the loss.
