This is the hot hatch, about a month before it’s supposed to be your turn.

The GR Yaris was first introduced by Toyota in September 2017. However, it was only in Japan that the supermini was given the “Vitz” moniker. It then switched to the fourth generation a few months ago. Toyota isn’t wasting time revealing a new GR-spec Yaris. The official unveiling will take place next month at Tokyo Auto Salon. The car will be available to us in its entirety by January, thanks to . They spotted it in the Australian outback while filming a promotional video.

The spicy GR variant will have a three-door layout, rather than the five-door Yaris. It will feature a slightly sloped roofline and a more dynamic side profile. The large, beefy brakes hidden behind the wheels are visible as well as the larger grille at front that allows the engine to breathe better. Gazoo Racing has modified the rear with the two exhaust tips and a chunky spoiler.
Wheels was also able to see inside the cabin. Purists will be pleased to learn that the GR Yaris not only had a manual gearbox but also a handbrake lever. The interior is pre-production so it’s not all that exciting. However, we notice the body-hugging front seat and the “GR” badge on the steering wheel. The Australian magazine reported that the Toyota is feisty and has a button to activate an intercooler water spray. It’s located between the door and the steering column.

Although technical details remain a mystery, it is widely believed that the rally-inspired Toyota GR Yaris will feature a turbocharged four cylinder gasoline engine coupled to an all-wheel drive system. We are not able to predict how much power the four-cylinder gasoline engine will produce, but we expect some good numbers once the car is revealed fully on January 10.
